Looks like the Bronze League is going to soon split into two completely seperate leagues. Strong teams in one league, and the weaker teams in the other. With the rule that you can only play down one league, the lower league would be free (in theory) from any silver league players. This sounds like a pretty good idea, lets hear your thoughts.
Sounds really good in theory.
ReplyDeleteI agree sounds good in theory, but what is going to determine where the teams play?
ReplyDeleteA couple of the teams for the upper are a no brainer, MIB and Mayhem. Keller Indians would be one as well since many of their folks play on their silver league team it would make sense that they play in the upper. Bottom division teams so far would be spider monkeys, average joes, jets, and then the rest would be determined over the course of this season.
ReplyDeleteAlso of note, team finishing last in the upper would be relegated to the bottom division for the next season, and team who finished first int he lower would be sent to the upper. Just like europeon soccer.
That sounds like a great plan. can't wait to see it in action next session. Should make for much better and closer games every week.
ReplyDeleteCan the upper tier have earlier start times than lower? This could be an incentive for people to work on thier game and move up. Great idea overall though. Also, is this decision based soley on complaints about MIB and Mayhem?
ReplyDeleteThis would have happened about four seasons ago when the league first came up with the two divisions plan. However, too many new teams have been coming in the league, so it has made it hard to decipher who belongs in what division. Next season the league should have the same teams, so it is the perfect time to make the jump.
ReplyDeleteKiller, I like the idea of
ReplyDelete"Also of note, team finishing last in the upper would be relegated to the bottom division for the next season, and team who finished first int he lower would be sent to the upper."
hope they follow through with that, or heck maybe even top 2/bottom 2 transfer.
will there be 2 bronze kegs???
ReplyDeleteNo! Top group gets the Keg and the bottom tier gets a 12 pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer...I swear!!! Chad said it...
ReplyDeleteThat is true incentive to move up....
ReplyDeleteIf the intent and reality focus on "pretty fair hockey games" I'd support as one member of MIB. We have wide variations of talent on our team - and we've been on top and the bottom of standings in our time together...and we play to stay together. Winning them all is unrealistic, losing them all is not fun for very long. We've had some close games that could've easily gone either way in our only season here. We're not ringers to repeat by any means. Our focus is: if we have fun with our friends, no one gets hurt (usually goes with the fun), and we have cold beer..then who cares what the score is??!!
ReplyDeleteTilly
I still can't get past the Pabst reference.....
ReplyDeleteGeuss who posted that fucker, asswipes....
ReplyDeleteCan we send the lower tier to another facility and pick up some more teams from Euless so we might actually have a full league that doesn't whine and bitch?
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the the two divisions finally become a reality. I think the games will become more competetive and have less issues with team personnel. Several of the current teams have players who play in both Silver and Bronze. Most of these players are not studs in Silver, but appear to be in Bronze. I know from experience it sucks to skate for two or three shifts and only touch the puck once or twice, only to have it taken away immediatley by more skilled player. Great job Chad!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf this idea doesn't work, we could stop keeping score and give everyone first place trophies at the end of each season to eliminate the constant bitching from teams that lose.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea! I never got the whole one team wins it all thing. We are an entire league of teams all special in our own ways. I mean at the end of the day aren't we all winners?
ReplyDeleteFirst Place Trophies, that would jack the cost of the league up. I think we could just modify the rules of hockey and let bronze league games be 11 on 11 more like football so more people get ice time.
ReplyDeleteI also heard that Ice Hole is gay and has aids. True?
Sounds like a pretty good idea. In essence, it would be a true I-league, and a true D-league? What would the I-league be called? Tin? Steel? Iron? Aluminum? Got to give them a cool metal name to fit in with the NYTEX concept.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the NYTEX concept? We can't do shit right?
ReplyDeleteCopper.
ReplyDeleteIt's about time NYTEX does what is right and get with the tried and true 4 - league format.
Gold
Silver
Bronze
Copper
No one can play down more than one league.
You are always going to have some guys play in two leagues. In fact the rink depends on it. Players are hard to come by. They won't have you think that, but this is competition, folks. Like it or not, it is reality. It is high time something different is on the horizon. Who knows the outcome, but keep voicing your opinion, however childish and self mitigating it is, it is welcomed and encouraged here on this website!
I want to know what happened to the weekly recaps? What happened to the next week match-ups? This blog sucks, it's all about bitching and complaining about stuff you can't do anything about. I want it to get back to its roots and start discussing hockey.....real hockey games, not what the rink is supposedly going to do.
ReplyDeleteThere are like ten people who have the ability to post articles on this blog, but yet we never hear anything from them. Please blog posters give us more. Except Ice Hole, he never has anything good to say.
ReplyDeleteNow that the copper kids have their own league maybe they will get their own blog too. No more complaining.
ReplyDeletestfu everyone complains no matter what league they are in.
ReplyDeleteStfu? Is that a European name? I like it though... You are right, people are going to bitch about any and everythng they can.
ReplyDeleteAt any rate, get used to it boys. NYTEX is trying to "keep up with the Jones's"
You are always going to get "fringe teams" moving from rink to rink, looking to get that elusive championship, so they can feel good about themselves....
But I applaud NYTEX for growing with us. The current management really hasn't been in this game too long here. Compared to the Stars Centers, I feel NYTEX is ahead of the curve the Stars Centers went through. There are more than one former Stars employees working for NYTEX, so I am not really surprised.
However, this is a work in progress. Like all business ventures, there will be questionable decisions, but for the most part, I feel NYTEX is willing to listen to us and try to accomodate our wishes, as long as (in their mind) it is for the betterment of the rink.
So, keep speaking your mind. After all if no one ever saw blood dripping from a woman's vagina, the Tampon would never have been invented! So, bottom line, there is hope, Obie Wan....
