The #2 seed, the Bandits led by their goalie Greg "Boycott Zuromas" Perry matched up against the #1 seed, led by Mike "Blad Brit" Best for a classic Saturday night show down at Nytex to determine the overall winner of the regular season Texan Division race.
The winner of this game, even though the Bandits do have one more game to play, accoring to NYTEX does not count for points, will clinch the title. The two teams were tied going into this, but the Puddle Jumpers had 8 wins and 1 loss and the Bandits had 7 wins and two OT losses, thus tieing up the points at 16 a piece!
This was going to be a doozie! And it was!
The Bandits took an early lead in the 1st period and were just throwing shot after shot at Best, one lucky shot caught a skate blade and just 'popped' over best shoulder. The Puddle Jumpers rallied and came back to 1-1 in the first.
The PJ's popped in another one in the second and went ahead 2-1... It stayed this way until the thrid when the Jumpers got all messed up in their defensive zone and one slid through Bests legs.
O/T was still tied up and a shoot out was the only way to decide this one.
In a shot and a save first by Perry followed by a dubious first goal by the Bandits where the shooter appeared to lose control of the puck, then pull it backwards and score was called a good goal by the ref. Then two goals by the Pudlle Jumpers and two saves by Best saw the Jumpers be victorious for the Texan Division Title for the second season in a row.
This was a great natured, but agressive game where the stands were surpisingly busy with about 100 people showing to watch their family member and friends play a great Saturday night game!
Great recap! Nice to see a well-written and balanced description for everyone to read.
ReplyDeleteI believe everyone brought their best out there last night. One of the Bandits skated by our bench in the 3rd and said, "you guys tired yet? I am!" We ALL felt that way. That was the most fun and most WORK we've had all season!

Makes me miss me mum, and want to munch wunch on some lomticks of toast. Cheeryo Mate!
ReplyDeleteGreat session. Lots to look forward to with the changes. Jumpers will be looking for a new goalie and will be adding a development team to get more guys moving up... Thanks to all the teams for playing and for staying at NYTEX.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing Improving about the Puddle Jumpers is the caliber of players they bring in to join their team. Anyone can win in the Bronze league if you bring in upper level players.
ReplyDeleteboo-fucking-hooo. sounds like you are on a team that lost to the puddle jumpers.
ReplyDeleteNot on a team that lost to the Puddle Jumpers, actually I moved on from Nytex and play out at Euless now. Problem with Nytex was teams started loading up their rosters to combat teams that previously beat them. You take the Whalers who bring in Bill Carlson who is a C Leaguer at worst. Indians have a never ending supply of kids who recently graduated High School, Bandits have Brandon Decker who refuses to leave the bronze league and move up to silver (its too fun weaving in and out of poor skaters in Bronze I guess), Average Joes have that black guy defenseman who could probably play in teh gold league with no problems plus the guy who wore the green breezers who is just as good plus Glenn Frederick who played B League at ITC with a friend of mine, Rampage have a team loaded with D leaguers and former high school players. I am out, i am sure Euless will have some issues as well, but from what I have seen so far the ringer count is much lower.
ReplyDeleteare you the guy that got kicked out for fighting?
ReplyDeleteI applaud you PJ Hater. This league is not for everyone. I have suggested to many people that have complained about the level of competition in Bronze to try another facility. Nice to see someone actually trying it for a change. Let this be inspiration to those of you feeling left behind in Bronze League. Apparently there is a whole league of people who can't skate over at Euless.
ReplyDeleteI cant skate, and dont want to work on it, but I want my team to win, can I just bring in a few canadiens to level it out.
ReplyDeleteTake a look at the PJ roster, and at rosters past. Not much change in our THREE seasons at NYTEX personnel wise. The difference is that the PJs actually PRACTICE to get better, instead of just showing up at games and hoping to improve.

PJ 42,
ReplyDeletePractice as much as you want, but you're still gonna suck. And ,some of us have lives doing things other than trying to be the best of the crappy skaters in the league for benders and dusters.
As far as PJ roster changes, how about that fuckass you add this season that skates circles around most of the league? Forgot about him didn't you dumbass!
you sound pissed that good players want to play on our team and not with a douchebag like you. we practice because we enjoy playing hockey and actually enjoy hanging out with each other. plus you have the added bonus of winning.
ReplyDeletebasically i guess my overall point is: FUCK YOU ASSCLOWN!!!
@ Puddle Jumper Hater
ReplyDeleteThat's the reason for the spilt of the Bronze league next season, no? Everyone knows if you're looking for a true I-league, then NYTEX isn't your place. Hopefully that will change next year. Also, pointing out the Average Joes is just ignorant. I mean, if all of those ringers you mentioned were scoring and "wrecking" on the league, they probably would have more than 4 wins in two seasons, right?
Haters gonna hate...
Looking at the stats there are a few players who reak of being a ringer:
ReplyDeleteEric Johnson (MIB) 16 points in 9 games
Andrew Palmer (Sens) 19 points in 10 games
CJ Fisher (Sens) 14 points in 9 games
Chad Siewert (Sens) 8 points in 4 games
Briany Hamstra (TDA) 13 points in 7 games
Glen Frederick!!! (Joes) 28 points in 8 games holy sheet!!!!!!!
If the Average Joes go to the bottom division, they need to not have Frederick on their team, go up to the silver league eh.

ReplyDeleteI never expected to become an NHL player, but I'm skating far better this season than I did 2 seasons ago; I attribute that to making an effort at practice, and trying to learn the game.
I never said we didn't add ANY players, I said there wasn't MUCH change. Our goal from day 1 has been to improve and move up. Sorry if your face gets wiped into the ice on the way, but don't worry--you can stay in the lower level, and pick out the next team that wants to improve to complain about.
Besides, by not signing your post, it's obvious that you know your whining makes you look like a douche-bag.
Have a nice day!
PJ #42.
Replacing Stuart Eggerton with Mike Best made the PJ's better, its not cause of practicing, better goalie, makes a better team.
ReplyDelete-douchebag
PJ 42,
ReplyDeleteI recall my team kicking shit out of your team this season so suck it bitch!
Hell yea replacing me in goal helped make the team better. I had never skated before when I joined the team. I stopped playing goal because i got a different job and i wont be able to play every week, so we got a new goalie who had some experience. i'm glad besty took over for me because it helped out team.
ReplyDeleteoh yea by the way my last name only has 1 g in it.
stuart
the only game we lost this season was to the bandits and that was by 2 goals. but i also seem to remember that we won against you guys later in the season and knocked you out of first place.
ReplyDeleteso why dont you go ahead and suck it bitch.
Who are you people?
