The final is upon us after last nights showdown between thePuddle Jumpers and the Whalers. The Puddle Jumpers showed up with a full bench again while the Whalers seemed to be short on numbers, maybe that was just the difference in numbers.
The PJ's took an early lead in the first period going up 2-0 and had the Whalers tied up in their own end for much of the first period. This was unlike when the Whalers stomped the Bandits and it seemed to catch the Whalers a bit surprised.
The PJ's were keeping their shifts very short and keeping fresh legs out there, where the Whalers shifts seemed to be 3 minutes or so...
Anyhoo, the Whalers did score on besty with a shot and a defensive stick redirect, but apart from that the PJ's goalie looked calm and focused.
The PJ's stuck in 3 more goals to make the final score 5-1 and that sends the PJ's into the final for the very first time against MIB...
Nytex has decided that the evening of the 23rd is a good time to play a final game, when half of most teams will be visiting family... For two teams that have fought very hard this whole season and playoffs, need to have their whole team there to play and to raise the keg if successful...
Let's have a vote to see who would postpone the game until after Christmas, say the 29th...

I think that Nytex should allow both teams to show up with their full bench.
ReplyDeleteThis would allow either team who wins the chance to enjoy the win as a team.
Otherwise, half the team will not be able to enjoy it.
I vote for the following week!
my vote is for the 29th. both teams should be completely represented.
ReplyDeletenot the 29th, I got tickets to the stars/wings game for the whole family, and I know we would rather play for Mindo so that night would suck!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the jumpers make it into the keg game. One of the cleaner teams in the league and always fun to play against. Plus it is good to see a team go from fighting on their bench to playing good team hockey in just two sessions.
ReplyDeletePlay the game whenever just get the next session going.
It's ridiculous. Just flat ridiculous that the Cletus would schedule a championship the day before a holiday. I mean it's the Baby Jesus Birthday!! Let's them play next week. Merry Christmas to the Scrooges of NYTEX.
ReplyDeleteIts fucking dumb to schedule an adult rec league game 2 days before Christmas and expect full teams to show up and not be affected by the 5 game rule. I dont think anyone should be able to play but if the teams have to be there then then they should allow players that have been regular subs to play for the keg.
ReplyDeletei would vote after christmas. think about it, if your the lossing team, Christmas won't be that enjoyable. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Bubbles...not the 29th.
ReplyDeleteThe PJs should keep botching on the blog though...and not cause it's 2 nights before Christmas but because they have to work that night.
As we know, Chad reads this blog, so what say ye Chad...?
ReplyDeleteJust as many will be gone the week between Christmas and New Years. Its been scheduled so lets play as scheduled.
ReplyDeleteAnon 9:26 has a great point. Both teams have people missing this week and will have people missing next week.
ReplyDeletetrying to find a day that suits everyone will mean we will NEVER play this game. I say we go with the original date/time as I have already informed all Mindo's friends to be there that time. I and all of them have secured that time to be there, I am taking the day off work... changing it a day or two before just is stupid
ReplyDeleteI don't care when the game is but I broke a nail this morning so I'll be needing to get that fixed before I play.
ReplyDelete9:45 tonight/Thursday... is that right? I might show up to watch the game... wish we were playing. The PJs whipped us pretty good Sunday night so I'll take them 4-3.
ReplyDeleteGame's been changed to 11:25 on the 29th. For now.
ReplyDeleteNow the 29th's off. Looks like first non-holiday weekend in January.
ReplyDeletethis is ridiculous....lets just settle this....Tennis courts in Benbrook off Park street. 8pm Monday night!

Dammit, know the next session is going to start even later. Just play the damn game.
ReplyDeleteThe fucking PJs should have sucked it up and played tonight. They're going to lose regardless of how many are on their bench.
ReplyDeleteThis is I league folks. Not NHL MIB and PJs bitch equally. The MIB thinks everyone has ringers but what about them last season? They have 2 old fat guys and a few facebook lovers. But they have a pretty stacked teamed. PJ
ReplyDeleteare a good group of guys to play against. A few of them cut up during the game and enjoy their time on the ice.
MIB dnt bitch abt ringers anymore than anyone else. MIB ringers r abt 10 yrs older & 20 pounds older than any other team! There r more than 2 old fat guys on the team! Lets jst play the game n have fun! All of us enjoy r time on the ice n crack up!
ReplyDelete#10 MIB
#10 your right y'all have several fat players. PJ's have all ringers and the fact they are playing in this league is a disgrace to NYTEX. They go and get a non I league goalie. Both teams should not be in the league.
ReplyDeleteYeah! And then those rat-bastards have the nerve to actually PRACTICE! And to make matters worse, they actually GET BETTER when they do!
ReplyDeleteIt is truly disgraceful. They give the rest of us who like to whine about why we suck, and who show up to skate once a week whether we want to or not a bad name. They shouldn't be called the Puddle Jumpers, they should actually be CALLED "Rat Bastards."
Next time I see them in ZuRoma's drinking beer and being friendly, cutting up on the ice, or tailgating after a game, I'm gonna tell them EXACTLY what I think of them. Rat-bastard sons-of-a-bitches!
I guarantee i am not a ringer on the pj's. i fall down more then i skate, but i have a lot of fun doing it. as far as our goalie goes, he came to our team from another bronze league team. yes hes good, but he plays a lot of games and works hard to be better. it just sounds like you are pissed because our team beat your team or you couldnt get one past besty.
ReplyDeleteDo we have a confirmed date/time for the keg game yet?
ReplyDeleteThe Puddle Jumpers work hard for what they get and good for them. But if you look at them carefully....home jerseys, away jerseys, tailgating after games as one player mentioned, fans wearing PJ's attire. This is not just a hobby for them, it's life. I have no problem with a team dominating that has invested that much time and effort into I league hockey. Honestly it would be pretty sad if they weren't dominating. Most of us have other hobbies/interests (other sports, spending time with family, career, drinking, etc.) The PJ's have Nytex. Just let them be. Unless you are prepared to give up everything else in life you will not be competitive at Nytex.
ReplyDeleteWe have worked hard for what we have accomplished. I joined the team two sessions ago. The first game I ever saw was the MELTDOWN on the bench between a player and Coach and though "what the hell have I gotten into." Bill took over and I gave in to his teachings and system. I have learned more and improved 100% because of that. We do practice every chance we get. Even pay for extra ice time and hire coached to help us with drill, at midnight. That is the type of TEAM we are. Not that we don't have lives. Our families and BETTER HALVES know that we love what we do. There was even a group of us at GMM on Christmas Eve and YES our better halves thought we were crazy, but we had FUN. We love the game, plain and simple. Maybe we should name our 3rd Team the Rat-Bastards as suggested, but would have to work on a new logo, stickers, t-shirts, etc, yadda, yadda, yadda. Embrace your teams out there and HAVE FUN!!! That is all we have done. For some of us, this is the ONLY family in town.
ReplyDeleteCasey Hines #32 on the best phuc'n team out there!!!
Yes I do read this blog. Last week I was out of the state, and then my wife had a serious health problem arrise. I have been out of pocket for a while.
ReplyDeleteMy worries with moving the championship game were that we could not find a decent time to move it to, or we would end up having a two or three week gap before the game could be played.
I just talked to Knute, and we decided that January 7th immediately following the Brahmas game at 10:25 is the best time to play this game. It is a Friday night, and it will not affect the next seasons schedule.
Speaking of next seasons schedule, that should be out this week if all goes according to plan. it is done on paper, and just needs to be inputted into the computers at Nytex, and then League Lineup. The final couple games on next seasons schedule are going to be listed as TBA since the weekends that those games would be falling under are the times when the Brahmas might be hosting playoff games as well as youth playoffs.
Knute,
ReplyDeleteHow about the keg game Saturday the 8th BEFORE the Brahma game? Let the other teams have their first practice for the new session after the Brahma game.

I remember that meltdown Casey. My team was wondering what the hell was going on! You have a good bunch of guys though. Use to play roller with Jason Joy and Dan Hankins...good guys. I just hate how Hankins skates around me so easily! :/
ReplyDeleteI remember when I had my first beer...
ReplyDeleteProbably when you got your first pubes. Last week, right?
ReplyDeleteMIB fat guy here. Kiss my butt, I'll outdrink you, dated your Mom, blah, blah, hurt me, stupid.
ReplyDeleteMIB and PJs are going to have a great game tomorrow night - Let's enjoy this league, it's THE best in the area, no question.
