Rampage Sting Stingers
The 5 time champion Stingers continued their quest for a 6th Keg against the highly favored Rampage on Saturday. It was a low scoring affair with both netminders doing work as there were only 3 goals allowed in this game. A total of 6 penalties were called, 4 to the Bees and two to the Rampage. One penalty that you rarely see in the adult leagues was elbowing on Stingers Josh Briscoe. Kind of a rough penalty for a youth minister to take? Stingers had three penalties in the 2nd period, but the Rampage never converted on any of those chances. Kudos to Dana Fenili of the Stingers who stopped 32 of 34 shots in this game. Had he more offensive support he might could have walked away with a win here, but the Rampage will advance with the 2-1 victory. Toby Zelt tosses in the game winner along with a helper to win the first star of the night. Next up for Rampage is MIB who knocked them out last year in the Keg Semi Finals.

More recaps like this, and I like the 3 star system, although i think that name is is made up Toby Zelt? Sounds like a character from a will ferrell movie.

ReplyDeleteGood recap and a good game. It was good to see a game that competitively played without any tempers flaring up. True that if the Stingers had any offense this game could have been different. But Rampage had the better skaters on this night.

Recaps are great...and on a different note, why the hell is Toby Zelt permited to play in the Bronze league?
ReplyDeleteThey have a couple of players on that team that are high level Bronze Leaguers. They would probably be average in silver. They just look 10 better than they are when there are really shitty players out there.
ReplyDeleteToby Zelt played high school hockey, and at UNT- why is he playing in the Bronze? Thought that was against the rules?
ReplyDeleteUNT had an inline team same as UT Arlington. If you saw the level of play at either of those schools you would understand, they were flat out terrible. Rules say you cant use someone on a high school team but nothing written about former high school players. Should play in the Silver League, but some like to stroke their egos and skate around newbies.

i am so tired of everyone crying about who has who on there team.this is adult hockey we are here to have fun with are buddy's and play a sport that we love. did Toby pay hockey in high school yes, I'm sure there is a few of us in the league that have. this is no different then a beer league in softball you have your better players and teams and your weaker players and teams. none of us are out trying to get a CHL, AHL, or NHL contract nor will we at nytex bronze league.just show up play hockey with your buddy's have fun.

ReplyDeleteJust about every bronze team has a player or two who can play in the silver. The main reason we win is because we play good as a team. Yes, sometimes Toby or Brian will skate by everyone an score. But the majority of the time, they actually pass the puck. Same thing most of the other really good players do in this league as well.

Maybe you guys should stop geting ringers that are about 40 times better then the average player on your team and actually pick up some half decent players who have the least bit of interest in playing with your fails teams.
