Saturday Night Matinee!

5:00 PM, showdown between two leader teams, Palmers Sweet Leaf and Rusts Puddle Jumpers. Some predicited a 4-3 win Sweet Leaf, all we knew is that this was going to be a fiesty one and we were not let down.

You could tell right from the beginning that Sweet Leaf were out to prove they could take the Jumpers and went up early with a sweet (no pum intended) tap-tap goal from behind the net to the front and in. Besty stood no chance on this one.

First blood to SL. Then the Jumpers came back to tie and go ahead by one. This was counter-acted by a high schooler, skating right up the middle around everyone and past Besty within a minute of the Jumpers going ahead. Hmmm, I wonder why #4 was brought out, to tie up the game?

This is when thing started to get really chippy. Lots of blatent cross checks, slashes and hits seemed to go un-noticed by Neimi and he started to lose control of the game. Two fights broke out at the PJ's net and ended up with Palmer and a PJ spending a 5 and 10 in the box (I think).

Things calmed down a bit and the PJ's went up 3-2, then tied 3-3. The shot difference was pretty large, with SL putting a bunch on Besty and kept him real busy between the pipes for the PJ's.

The PJ's snuck in two more to end the game 5-3, well 4-3 and one empty netter, Besty was a wall for the PJ's and allowed them to stay in the game and gave them the chances they needed.
