Weekend Bronze Recap

This weekend we saw some exciting games in the Nytex Bronze League. The Stingers started the day off by dismantling the Fort Worth Bandits 8-1. Bandits have looked strong this season so far, but fell flat against the Bronze League Powerhouse Stingers. Stingers had a light bench, and saw scoring from nearly everyone. Roland Widemann had a hat trick, and coach Dan Fenili had a pair of helpers as the Bees continued their march to the post season.

The second game of the evening has been already mentioned on the blog, but we will revisit here for a second. The Jags and Sens squared off in the second of the two matinee games on the day. Jags win this one 4-1, but of course the most talked about thing that happened in this game was the late game collision that sent Jamie Welton of the Senators to North Hills Hospital. For more details read the blog post below about the tough guy of the week.

The two late games were both interesting as they both were decided by a shootout. The Spider Monkeys and Jets played their hearts out in a friendly game that ended up with both teams deadlocked after four periods of play. The MVP of the game for the Jets was Ethan Turner, whose third round shootout goal gave the Jets a much needed win.

Finally we had the Indians of Keller going against the TD Ameritrade Whalers. Whalers came into the game without a win on the season. Indians came into the game having already played in three overtime contests this season. The game was deadlocked after four periods sending the teams to a shootout. Indians fell short despite both Kyle and Les Kelly shooting. #11 for the Whalers puts the puck in the back of the net past Tribe netminder Kacy Bird.

That is the quick recap, now your thoughts.

  1. Really Turner the MVP? Not Will that scored 2 goals? Props to Ethan for getting the game winner, but we wouldnt have even been in the shootout if it wasnt for Wills fancy stick work. That was a really fun game though.

  2. My Props have to go out to Kacy Bird. He played in goal in back-to-back games. With the Indians and then with the Monkeys in the late game, and both games went to shootouts.

  3. I appreciate the sentiment. It was a long night to say the least. It's hard to believe that 4 of my 8 games in net have gone to OT and 3 have gone to a shootout.

It has been a fun season in net for the Indians, Jets, and Monkeys. All of the loses have been by a single goal. I'm going to miss playing at Nytex and for the Indians and for whoever needs a sub. This will be my last week in the Silver and Bronze leagues as I will be moving back to Iowa.

    Thanks for the fond memories....

  6. Birdman, thanks for filling in for us on such short notice. You did a helluva job. Good luck in Iowa, and don't ever forget us.

As far as our game, that was the best game i have ever taken part of. Great game all around. And Brandon, thanks for the Crosby comment, it gave me wood.

  7. I didn't notice it was you until I saw you get up which made it just that much better.

As far as MVP. It was Will. Hes a shut-down defensemen with a mean streak.
