Get Your Popcorn Ready.......Brahmas Making the Cut 2010 Version

This post does have a direct tie into the Bronze, Silver, and Over 35 Leagues at the Nytex Sports Centre.

This weekend marks the fourth installment of the Texas Brahmas “Making the Cut” series at the Nytex Sports Centre in North Richland Hills. This annual pre season event gives free agents the chance to come in and work out for the Brahmas coaches in an effort to gain a spot on the training camp roster. Two years ago Making the Cut participant Ross Rouleau earned a shot at training camp, and actually went on to make the team and was an integral part in the Brahmas winning the CHL championship that year. Rouleau is now playing for the Kalamazoo Wings which are the AA affiliate of the New York Islanders in the East Coast Hockey League.

Last year the blog spotlighted Seth “Tuck” Longbottom who attended the Brahmas Making the Cut camp. Longbottom played in the Nytex Gold and Silver Leagues with the Whistlers and Blazers. He also has helped coach teams from time to time. This year we have a couple of people taking their shot at Making the Cut. First we have Corey Bounds who some of you have played against in the Silver or Gold Leagues at Nytex. Corey played for the Texas Renegades of the Western States hockey League a couple years ago, and more recently has been playing with the Chupacabre and Dirtbags of the Silver League. Also taking a shot at Making the Cut is Steve Hall from the Whistlers, Red Wings (over 35), Blazers, Ice Kings, and a myriad of other teams in the area.

Training Camp for the Brahmas will begin the first weekend in October will one of these two players get an invite.

  1. Ha...dumbasses think they can make the Brahmas because they played in the Silver or Gold league? What a joke!!! Guess they like pissing their money away!

  2. Should be another good show though, if you're a fan of very spirited, hard practices to get to know players, coaches, etc. before the new season starts.

  3. Actually, both players mentioned (Seth and Corey) are both quite good.

You'd be surprised I guess, to hear that there are Brahmas players that play in the Gold league in the off season.

Good luck to both of them. Steve Hall? He must just be going for the work out.

  7. First of all no one can Make me. Get it, I am the Cut, anyone, crickets, anyone.

Steve is probably right around 40, so he has to be doing it for the experience points and workout factor. A friend of mine did this thing last season, and said it was the most grueling workout of his life. One guy had to go to the hospital in an ambulance. Should be a show.
