Bronze game of the week

The Bronze game of the week features the two Alpha dogs of league over the past few seasons, the Indians and the Stingers. Having dropped a close game to the TD Whalers last week 3-2, the Stingers can drop to second seed through head to head games with the Whalers with a loss to the Indians. The Stingers are lead by Josh Briscoe with 12 goals and 6 assist and Roland Widemann with 12 goals and 5 assist. The Indians play a more balanced game with almost every team mate chipping in with goals and assist this season. Their offensive leader this season is Ryan Kelly with 6 goals and 2 assist. These two teams met earlier this season with the Stingers taking it 5-2 with Widemann finding the back of the net twice and Briscoe once. The Indians have a chance for payback against their old rival by denying them the top seed and opening the door for the Whalers to take the honor.

Prediction: Indians 4, Stingers 3 with the over/under on PIM set at 14 minutes….take the over.

Other games of note this weekend – The Spider Monkeys and Severe Icing, both with one win on their ledger, will be looking to climb out of the cellar in a clash of last place teams. 3 teams are sitting at 6 wins, the Indians, API Sens, Bandits and will be looking to jump each other in the standings.

This weekend should be interesting with the brackets possibly looking a whole lot different by midnight Saturday...stayed tuned!

  1. 12 goals for Josh and Rolland? Do they know how to pass or do they not want the othe guys to get the glory?

  7. I believe the Stingers could still be #1 if they lost to the Indians in OT. They would have more points.

    #6 Whalers

  11. OT = 1st place for the Stinger by one point
    L = 2nd seed

  12. Uh, Standings are a moot point... The Stingers will win another keg and then proceed to fall into their comfort zone in Instructional league for the umpteenth season. Congrats to all who graduate from Instructional league this upcoming season and test the waters of Silver League. You are the ones who will struggle initially yet one year from now will be better for it.

    My hockey helmet is tipped to you

  13. LOL and to all you who don't move up, perhaps you can try to get a fake ID and try to sneak your way onto a house pee-wee team. You keep going backwards your bound to eventually get that elusive hat trick.

  14. Sounds like somebody needs to be changed and maybe a fresh baba. I see these guys every season and you can look at the stat sheets. There are 2-3 guys that need to move up and the others are where they belong. Just take their big guns out and see what the others can do.

    I could be wrong as I have no business moving up but doesn't the Silver league cost a lot more. I bet if NYTEX put together a season like the Bronze League for Silver players more people may move up. Maybe not, just a thought.

  15. How about a Bronze and true I league division.

  16. That would be to perfect.

  17. What about if you have 8 goals or more you have to move up. That way if the good players don't want to move up they can't score.

  18. Then you will have guys score 7 goals a season and just stop shooting and passing the puck to someone else to shoot.

  19. The whole point is to score and everybody complains about the guys with all the goals. This may cut down on those guys who just don't get it. Some one has to score and this could help spread the wealth. Nothings perfect and NYTEX isn't going to do anything anyway. I was just trying to think of ideas.
